Decisions have consequences. I chose not to stay in my last job, despite being the directors preference to run the organisation. I could have done amazing things given that freedom and support. I turned it down and I'm glad I did, because the job I have now is a dream and the organisation is a great one to be employed by. On the down side I'm earning less than I have in years and but for my redundancy I'd be in a sticky situation. This is the price of not only having a less stressful and more satisfying life, but also my continued preference to work no more than three days a week.
Which brings me to another consequence and this is a positive. I'm going to have to sell some of the things I've accumulated over the years, in order to be able to fund the purchase of the things I want now. This is not at all a bad thing, because I've collected a lot and in the past my solution would have been to give it to charity, Freecycle it or throw it out. I've finally realised the value of money now that I don't have the option of buying things without consequence.
